This season Varsity athletes will wear a different uniform from the rest of the team. New tops have been ordered and each week athletes will battle for a top 7 spot on the team with performance in meets, and practices.
It is ALWAYS Coach's discretion on who will represent SVHS in the top 7 and wear a Varsity Singlet. Today is an awesome opportunity to demonstrate what you have to offer the team and work toward earning a Varsity Singlet for our Hendersonville meet on August 26.
During today's scrimmage coaches are looking for guts and a desire to race. Many of you haven't been running for very long and we understand that your training history will play a big role in your performance. But when all training is equal, it is the athlete who pushes past the burning lungs and numb legs, and hunts down the girl just in front of them that will win. This is the attitude we want to see on the course today!
Best of luck to all athletes in today's scrimmage meet.
Please arrive at Sandhills no later than 5p. The girls race will start at 6p and the boys will follow at 6:30p.
Meet day expectations:
1. Arrive on time, hydrated and nourished.
2. Always have your team uniform top, team shorts and race shoes with you.
3. Plan to have packed a jacket and warm up pants, a change of clothes for after the race and a water bottle with you.
4. We will have a team meeting at the conclusion of the boys race unless I tell you otherwise. All Athletes are expected to stay for the team meeting unless you have provided Coach with written prior notice signed by a parent indicating why you must leave early. No, a big test the next day is not a valid excuse.
5. When you have finished the race, make your way back on the course with the spectators to support and encourage the rest of the team as they complete their race.
THOSE NOT COMPETING TODAY:
Warm Up: Cornfield, dynamic stretching and mobility
Workout: 4-6 MILES w. 5x 3min HARD, 2min TEMPO PACE
Cool Down: Jog the course, cheer for and support those who are in the scrimmage. ** spectators are not allowed to run side by side with an athlete. **
